Stroud’s Stratford Park will host a free day of outdoor drawing this summer, with visitors invited to collect a mini sketchbook and explore the park through sketching, doodling and observation.
Stratford Park Sketchbook Day will take place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 10:30am to 3:30pm at the Museum in the Park, Stratford Park, Stratford Road, Stroud.
What visitors can expect
The activity is open to all ages. Participants can draw features across the park, from trees and leaves to minibeasts and flowers, or take inspiration from the Park Life art exhibition.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own outdoor art supplies. Pencils and crayons will also be available to borrow from the museum, making the session accessible to people who do not have their own equipment.
Free sketchbooks and wet-weather option
The mini sketchbooks are free to collect from the museum. The event listing thanks bookbinder Ursula Jeakins for making and donating them from offcuts from her work.
If the weather is poor, participants can continue indoors by drawing museum objects. They can collect a sketchbook from the museum meeting room, borrow a pencil and explore the displays.
The event is listed as part of the museum’s Summer Holiday programme.
