A new sports clothing collection inspired by one Stroud woman’s experience of bereavement will launch at the Stroud Half Marathon, with part of every sale supporting Longfield Community Hospice.
Jordan Lansdown, 28, founder of JLUXE, will launch the limited-edition ‘Every Mile’ collection at 9am on Sunday, October 25, at the marathon start line. The range includes shorts, a sports bra and a top, and 10 per cent of sales will go to Longfield.
The launch will take place as Jordan runs the 13.1-mile course, allowing runners and spectators to see the collection being sold live during the event.
Collection inspired by Jordan’s grandmother
Jordan created the range after seeing the end-of-life care her grandmother, Marion Tuck, received. The design is based on a silk painting Jordan made and later gave to her grandmother.
Longfield supported Jordan’s family when Marion was nearing the end of her life. Jordan said the hospice stepped in before her grandmother’s NHS funding had been agreed.
“Longfield cared for my nan at the end of her life when no one else could. Her NHS funding hadn’t yet been agreed, but the hospice stepped in to support our family. I’ll never be able to explain what that meant to us.”
Jordan said she hoped the collection would raise money for Longfield’s Hospice at Home service, which provides support connected with the charity’s work in the community.
“I’m hoping the collection raises lots of money for Longfield’s wonderful Hospice at Home service.”
JLUXE and Longfield stands at the event
Longfield and JLUXE will have neighbouring stands at the Half Marathon. Visitors will be able to browse and buy items from the new activewear range at the JLUXE stand, while finding out more about Longfield and its services at the hospice’s stand.
The event will also feature a photo booth sponsored by JLUXE, where participants can take pictures after the race. A three-metre printed memory wall will give runners and spectators a place to share a message about the person they are running for.
The ‘Every Mile’ collection is a limited launch tied to the Stroud Half Marathon, combining the clothing release with fundraising and opportunities for people attending the race to learn more about Longfield’s work.
