Bargain Hunt star Izzie Balmer says she was in her “happy place” during her first valuation day at Wotton Auction Rooms, after visitors brought in jewellery, diamonds and Victorian treasures for her to examine.
The antiques expert, known from Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip and The Travelling Auctioneers, has joined the Wotton team for one day each month. She will work alongside the auction house ahead of its monthly auctions and a new programme of quarterly fine sales.
A busy first valuation day
Stroud Times reported that crowds flocked to Wotton to meet Balmer and seek her expert advice and valuations. The items presented included jewellery, diamonds and pieces from the Victorian and Edwardian periods.
Balmer said the jewellery was a particular highlight of the day. Speaking to Stroud Times’ Faye Hatcher, she described working with Wotton Auction Rooms’ managing director and auctioneer Joseph Trinder as a source of excitement.
“Joe gets some fantastic finds and I just really enjoy working with him.”
She added that she had seen “a lot of jewellery”, including diamonds and Victorian and Edwardian pieces, during the event.
“I have actually seen a lot of jewellery, which is brilliant. I mean, my happy place. Lots of diamonds, some nice Victorian bits, Edwardian bits.”
Monthly appearances and fine sales planned
Balmer’s arrangement with Wotton Auction Rooms means she is expected to return one day each month. Her involvement comes as the auction house prepares for its regular monthly auctions and plans quarterly fine sales.
