Customers in Nailsworth have just two more days to visit The Happy Cinnamon Artisan Bakery and coffee shop before the independent business closes its Market Street premises.
The shop will open for the final time on Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26, 2026. Pastries, loaves and cinnamon buns will be available during the final trading days, giving regular customers one last chance to visit the bakery before it shuts.
Why the Nailsworth shop is closing
The business said it had made every effort to keep the Nailsworth location going, but quieter trading in recent months was one of the factors behind the decision. It also said the practical challenges of running the shop had become increasingly difficult.
The Nailsworth premises opened more than two years ago. Happy Cinnamon, which also operates a bakery and coffee shop in Cheltenham, said the figures no longer supported continuing with a location that was not working for the business.
“We really did try to keep Nailsworth going, but things have been very quiet here lately and, alongside that, running this shop has at times become far more difficult than it should have been.”
The team added that the business had faced “plenty of demands, complaints and expectations” while operating in the town, and said those pressures contributed to its decision.
“We’ve dealt with plenty of demands, complaints and expectations along the way, and ultimately the numbers simply no longer made sense for us to keep pushing a location that wasn’t working.”
Thank-you message to regular customers
Although the closure announcement acknowledged the difficulties behind the decision, Happy Cinnamon’s main message was one of thanks to the customers who supported the independent bakery.
The team specifically thanked people who visited regularly, recommended the business, chatted with staff at the counter and wanted the shop to succeed. It said those customers would be missed.
“To our amazing regulars, the people who came in week after week, supported a small independent business, recommended us, chatted to us at the counter and genuinely wanted to see us do well — thank you.”
The bakery also used its characteristically humorous tone to address customers who had been less positive about the business, saying it would “probably” not miss them as much.
Could Happy Cinnamon return?
The closure does not necessarily mean the end of Happy Cinnamon’s presence in the area. The business said it would continue looking for other opportunities locally and suggested the closure could be temporary in terms of its wider relationship with Nailsworth.
“We’ll absolutely keep our eyes open for other opportunities in the area, so hopefully this isn’t goodbye forever — just see you soon.”
For now, the bakery’s final message to the town was simple: “Thank you, Nailsworth — it’s been a journey.”
