Prospective tenants who viewed apartments at Tricorn House in Stroud and submitted offers are still waiting to hear whether their applications will proceed, after the process was paused in August.
The former office building was relaunched as a private rental development following months of work by owner Vilednik Holdings Ltd and letting agent CGT Lettings. A dedicated online platform was created so people could view available apartments, register their interest, arrange viewings and submit offers.
The launch attracted a strong response. CGT Lettings said offers were received on every apartment made available on the day the properties were formally launched. However, the progression of applications was later temporarily halted after CGT was instructed to pause the process in August.
Tenants waiting for next step
The pause has left people who have already viewed apartments and made offers waiting for a decision. CGT Lettings managing director Nick Devonport described the situation as frustrating for both prospective tenants and his company.
“We continue to work with the owner, we hope that they will give us the green light to accept local applications very soon.”
CGT Lettings said it remains in contact with Vilednik Holdings Ltd and is ready to resume progressing applications once it receives further instructions from the owner. No date for a decision or restart of the application process was given.
From empty offices to rental homes
Tricorn House was built in 1975 to provide offices for the Department of Health and Social Security. Those offices closed in 1996, after which the building remained empty until Vilednik Holdings Ltd bought it at the end of 2022 and redeveloped it.
The uncertainty over the apartments comes as CGT Lettings reports growing demand from owners of larger residential developments looking for new ways to bring multiple properties on to the private rental market.
The agency said the work carried out at Tricorn House has led to instructions on several other residential blocks, including developments in Cheltenham and Gloucester. The company’s immediate position in Stroud, however, remains unchanged: applications will only move forward once the owner gives further instructions.
