Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was arrested following an alleged racist abuse incident at Bank Gardens in Stroud.

The incident happened during an event at the park on the afternoon of Saturday 5 September. Investigators say a man approached a group of people and shouted racist remarks before tearing down flags and throwing placards.

Arrest and investigation

Gloucestershire Police said the suspect was described as a white man in his 30s. He was also described as wearing a grey hoody and having a beard and short balding hair.

A man from Cam, also in his 30s, was later arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences and being drunk and disorderly.

He has since been released on police bail with conditions while the investigation continues. The source material does not state when he was arrested, the nature of the bail conditions or whether anyone was injured.
