An immersive sound journey inspired by soil and nature is coming to Stroud Valleys Artspace in October 2026, offering visitors a chance to explore imagination, listening and the local landscape.

Cultivating Connections: Sounds Like Imagination is a residency with Rory Thomas Lawton at SVA, 4 John Street, Stroud, GL5 2HA. The event listing runs from Tuesday 6 October to Saturday 17 October 2026, while the installation’s stated public opening times are Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 October, from 10am to 3pm, and Saturday 17 October, also from 10am to 3pm.

A sound journey beneath the surface

The project is described as “an explorative immersive sound journey hidden within soil and nature”. Its purpose is to elevate imagination and deepen listening, using creative practice to encourage a more imaginative connection to the local landscape.

SVA is working with Zerodig Farm and Curriculum For Life on a creative engagement programme bringing together young creatives, families and artists. The programme explores the links between science, farming and global stories through participatory art, with soil culture at its centre.

Opportunities for people aged 16 to 25

Young people aged 16 to 25 who want to find out more are invited to contact SVA at [email protected]. The listing says the project is funded by the European Union through the Soil Tribes programme, part of the Horizon project.

Zerodig is described as a not-for-profit social enterprise focused on soil restoration, with the aim of increasing the quality and volume of nutrient-rich food production.
