RUSH Skatepark has begun an active search for a new building in Gloucestershire, describing the appeal as the next step in its efforts to bring the skatepark back.

The charity is seeking premises measuring between 20,000 and 35,000 square feet. Ideally, the building would have a ceiling at least 7 metres high, parking and sufficient flexibility for refurbishment.

Buildings and arrangements being considered

RUSH is not limiting the search to buildings that are already ready for use. The team says it is willing to consider premises that need work before they can accommodate the skatepark, including vacant, underused or off-market industrial buildings.

The charity is considering several ways of securing a site. These include leasing a building, buying one outright or agreeing a lease-to-buy arrangement. The search could therefore include properties available through commercial or charitable arrangements rather than only conventional sales or lettings.

RUSH is also exploring whether a property might be made available through a full or partial donation, a discounted sale or a long-term lease. Other possibilities include a rent-free period or a discounted fit-out period to help with the work needed to prepare a building.

Any potential property would still have to pass appropriate checks. The charity says these would include trustee, legal, financial, building and planning due diligence before an arrangement could proceed.

Appeal to property owners and local contacts

The appeal is aimed at landlords, commercial property agents, developers, property owners, business owners and council officers who may know about a suitable building or be able to connect the team with someone who does.

RUSH stressed that a lead does not need to be a perfect, fully equipped skatepark site. The team said: “We don’t need you to have the perfect building ready to go.”

“If you have a lead, know a landlord, know of an empty warehouse, or think you could help us find one, please reach out.”

The search follows years of efforts to bring RUSH back. The organisation said the current appeal represents a move towards finding a practical place from which the skatepark could operate, while recognising that refurbishment may be required.

How to contact RUSH

Anyone with information about a possible building can contact the team through RUSH’s Instagram direct messages. People can also join the charity’s WhatsApp group using the link in its Instagram bio, or tag someone who may be able to help identify a suitable property.

The team added: “After years of trying to get RUSH back, we’re now actively looking for the place to make it happen.”

The supplied report refers to the proposed Rush Skatepark site at Putloe in its accompanying photograph caption, but does not confirm that the new building will be in Stroud or at any particular location. The report also displays both September 29 and September 30, 2026, in its publication information.
