A long-established Nailsworth butcher has given its Newmarket Road shop front a fresh new look as it prepares to celebrate 40 years of trading in the town next January.
Country Quality Meat has replaced or refreshed its exterior signage, creating a more modern appearance while keeping the traditional character associated with the business. The new signs are now in place at the shop, where Paul and Jack Dowdeswell were pictured outside the updated frontage.
A new look after nearly four decades
The makeover marks an important milestone for Country Quality Meat, which is approaching four decades of serving customers in Nailsworth. The business said the work was not simply a facelift for the premises. It also offered an opportunity to recognise the shoppers who have supported the butcher over many years.
Country Quality Meat has built a loyal customer base during its time in the town, with generations of shoppers visiting the shop. The business continues to focus on fresh meat and personal service, two features it says have helped it remain part of the local community as it enters its next chapter.
The anniversary is due next January, although the source does not specify the year. The updated frontage provides an early visible marker ahead of that occasion and gives returning customers a new feature to see when they visit the Newmarket Road premises.
Invitation to new and returning customers
Paul Dowdeswell said the team was pleased with the refreshed signage and invited both established customers and people who have not visited before to call in.
“We’ve given our signage a little refresh, and we’re delighted with how it’s looking.
“Whether you’re a new customer or one of our returning customers, we’d love to welcome you in.
“Pop by, say hello and come and see our fresh new look!”
The business is now encouraging familiar faces and new customers to stop by, say hello and view the changes for themselves. Its invitation comes as the shop looks towards its 40th anniversary and continues its long-standing role as a traditional local butcher.
The feature was published by Stroud Times in its Food & Drink and Business coverage. The page is labelled “Updated: September 7, 2026” and carries a byline dated September 8, 2026.
