Home of Vintage at Five Valleys Shopping Centre is entering the autumn season with new independent traders, an expanded gallery and a programme of creative workshops running through October and into December.
The venue has recently welcomed Wild Nook, Kira Mai Studio and Thimble and Wick. Their arrival adds to the range of independent businesses operating within Home of Vintage, which opened earlier this year at the Stroud shopping centre.
New traders and ethical homeware
Thimble and Wick is offering handmade candles, wax melts and fragrance products made in the UK. Its collection includes cosy scents suited to the autumn months, as well as products that could be bought as gifts or used around the home.
Karakorum is also preparing for a busy period, with new stock due to arrive from Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya. The business sells ethical homeware and has recently begun working with a social enterprise in Malawi. The partnership is intended to lead to a new range of products co-created by the two organisations.
The article describes these changes as part of a broader development of Home of Vintage, with new stock and businesses giving visitors more reasons to browse the independent retail offer during October.
Gallery moves into a larger space
Five Valleys Gallery has expanded into a new unit within Home of Vintage. The additional space is being used to display original paintings, prints, ceramics, sculptures and other handmade pieces by artists.
Seventeen artists have recently joined the gallery’s offering. They are Sarah Edmunds, Stuart Lennie, Gemma Waters, Carolyn Carswell, Alex Findlay, Raje Airey, Hollie Molloy, Helena Zabko Philips, Giulia Holland, Benedict Lovering, Sylvia Hammond, Jemma Jones, Philip Edmunds, Nancy Gruely, Philip Bunce, Phillip Edwards and Steven Roberts.
The expansion means the gallery is able to showcase a wider selection of work within the Home of Vintage space, alongside the other traders and creative businesses based there.
Jewellery project inspired by poetry
Phoenix & The Moon is in the early stages of a creative collaboration with a writer. The project is expected to produce a new jewellery collection inspired by a poetry book, with the designs being developed around the book’s narratives.
The article does not name the writer or poetry book, and it does not give a launch date for the collection. The project is currently described as being in development.
Art workshops available until December
Painted Palms is running two-hour creative art workshops at Home of Vintage every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The sessions are intended both for beginners and for people who want to practise or develop their existing skills.
A full programme of workshops is available through December. Details are available from painted-palms.com.
Home of Vintage was opened earlier this year by Dame Joanna Lumley. Its current autumn programme combines independent retail, ethical homeware, gallery exhibitions, an emerging jewellery project and practical art activities at Five Valleys Shopping Centre.
