Forest Green Rovers have completed the signing of Adeteye Gbadehan after the 22-year-old impressed Robbie Savage and the club’s coaching staff during a ten-day trial.
Gbadehan has agreed a one-year deal with the Nailsworth club, giving Forest Green another versatile option in midfield and defence. Savage believes the player can develop into an important long-term asset for the club.
Gbadehan earns permanent Forest Green move
The new arrival made 14 appearances last season for MLS Next Pro side St Louis CITY 2. He also spent a short period with Cardiff City, where he made one EFL Cup appearance during the 2024/25 season.
That Cardiff appearance came in a 5-3 defeat to Southampton. Gbadehan also played four times for Cardiff’s Under-21 side in the Premier League Cup.
His performances during his time with Forest Green were enough to secure a permanent move to The New Lawn. The club has not stated whether he will be available for its next match, but Gbadehan said he was eager to begin his time with the team.
“Adeteye’s been on trial with us for the last ten days and has done exceptionally well. We believe Adeteye can benefit the club long term. He’ll develop with us, and we think he is a real, real talent.”
Speaking after the move was confirmed, Gbadehan said he had received a positive welcome from the squad and coaching staff.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. The lads, the gaffer and the staff have been great since I arrived. I just cannot wait to get going now and show people what I’m about.”
Who is Adeteye Gbadehan?
Gbadehan arrives at Forest Green with experience of the MLS Next Pro system and English football. His record includes appearances for St Louis CITY 2, Cardiff City and Cardiff’s Under-21s.
The move follows a short assessment period rather than a long-term transfer process, with Savage and his staff making their decision after watching the player in training over ten days.
Forest Green supporters will now be able to see whether the versatile 22-year-old can turn that trial form into regular first-team involvement. The club’s manager and coaching staff have already made clear that they see scope for him to develop at The New Lawn.
