Forest Green Rovers’ search for a new manager has taken another turn after four members of Peterborough United’s backroom staff left the League One club following Robbie Savage’s appointment.

The departures are significant for the Forest Green search because the four staff members previously worked under Luke Williams, the former Peterborough manager who has been heavily linked with the vacant managerial position at the New Lawn club.

Who has left Peterborough?

Peterborough confirmed that assistant manager Ryan Harley and first-team coach Connell Rawlinson had left with immediate effect. Harley is a former Forest Green midfielder.

Goalkeeping coach Richard Taylor and head of sports science Ian Hutton have also departed. Peterborough said the pair had chosen to leave following the change in management.

The club thanked Harley and Rawlinson for their efforts and wished both men well for the future. Peterborough also said new first-team staff appointments would be made in due course.

What Robbie Savage said

Savage thanked Harley and Rawlinson for the way they had welcomed him and helped during his first few days in charge. He also credited them with contributing to Peterborough’s win over Ipswich Town Under-21s on Tuesday night.

“I want to thank Ryan and Connell for the way they welcomed me and helped me during the last few days and contributed to Tuesday night’s win over Ipswich Town Under-21s. I wish Ryan and Connell all the best for the future.”

Peterborough separately confirmed the departures in a club statement, thanking Harley and Rawlinson for their efforts and wishing them well.

Forest Green manager search

The developments come as Forest Green continue looking for a successor to Savage. Williams has been repeatedly linked with the vacancy, according to the report, after previously working with the four departing members of Peterborough’s backroom team.

The latest changes at Peterborough do not confirm who will take charge at Forest Green. The report also does not state when the Gloucestershire club will make its next appointment.
