A Dursley audience will be invited to explore the people and events behind one of the defining moments in space history when Terry Ransome returns to the Wings and Wheels Society with a new presentation.
The talk will examine how Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit the Earth. It will also focus on the determined engineer who drove the early Soviet space programme and remained publicly known only as the ‘Chief Designer’ until his death.
Two figures from the pioneering space era
Organisers say the presentation will tell the story of both central figures, offering an account of Gagarin’s historic achievement alongside the engineering work that made the early Soviet missions possible.
The event is open to everyone. Admission costs £5 for adults, while under-16s can attend for £2.50.
